10) How Sweet It Is takes place in the fictional town of “Granite Hills” New Hampshire.
09) Hodges column that he writes is seen in over 200 newspapers nationwide, except in New England, because the newspaper he used to be published in recently went under! Go figure!!
08) When Hodge is not at home writing his column, he can be found at the local pub owned by his long time friend Domino, called The Thirsty Whale! The Thirsty Whale is modeled after a similar pub the author frequented back in the day.
07) Hodge is named after a local ice cream stand in Amesbury MA called “Hodgies“. They have the best homemade ice cream– EHVAH!! His first name “Matthias”, is the name of the street the author of H.S.I.I. grew up at! If you don’t know what the “J.” in Hodges middle name stands for, then no one can help you!
06) This comic is 99.4% fictional, you’ll have to figure out which of the .6% of it is NOT!!
05) Hodges wife Melinda, is not modeled after the authors wife, see fun fact number 6
04) The resident “Lesbians” of H.S.I.I. are in no way created after friends of the author and his wife *cough-lie-cough*. However, fun fact number 6 does apply!
03) I’ve been drawing different variations of Hodge and Melinda since H.S. and yes, the artwork was quite scary back then!
02) The original name for this comic was going to be “committed for life”, after a comic the author did about 10 years ago, but decided against it. The author has mixed feelings on that decision still! He also kicked around the idea of calling the comic “Granite Hills”.
01) The main character (Hodge) of this comic and the author (Jynksie) of this comic have no similarities in looks what-so-ever! Or do they?!?
