It took me a vewy-VEWY long time to make this weeks comic because it was done 100% on my wacom bamboo tablet! Using it has christmashodge-colorchanged the natural way I draw to compensate for adjusting to a new way of drawing. You’ll notice some small differences in character appearances while I adjust, all hopefully for the better!

IMPORTANT NEWS: We will be taking the next two weeks off to enjoy the Christmas and New Years holidays and will return on TUESDAY, the 5th of January! Why a Tuesday? Because HSII-2010 is going to twice weekly, every Tues and most, if not ALL Fridays! I’ll need some time to settle into the new schedule, but twice a week it will be!

Happy Holidays! Love how everything looks in this single-panel. Really digging the bamboo tablet eh?

I still have to scan my blue pencil sketches in to be able to ink them w/ the tablet. Can’t seem to do people freehand just yet and it takes a really long time to make it, but yeah… the tablet is an enhancement. Hard, but worth it!

Happy New Year 2010 Jynksie and to the missus too!

        • jynksie

Thanks Keong! Merry New Year to you and your family as well! Good to see you milling about! =)

If this was all done on your tablet, then you have a great start! Everything looks really great! Nice depth too. I don’t think I have the patience to re-learn how to draw on a tablet. That’s why I went to a tablet monitor. I assume Hodge is refering to Yul Brynner?!? No?!?! haha!

    • jynksie

Unless Yul Brenners nickname was “log”, then I’m gonna say, not so much, no!! LOL …. My hope is that by inking my blue pencil sketches digitally, I’ll eventually be able to remove drawing on paper altogether! We’ll see how it goes! It takes a long time to digitally ink, so I may be doing some manual inking as well to keep pace.

Ahhh, yes….it’s time to put a little something extra in her stockings, huh? :D

You dirty bird- you!! o.O *grin*

  4. sillybeggar

Merry Christmas mate. Hope you have a great time.

    • jynksie

I’ll do what I can with as much spiked eggnog as I can handle!! =) Enjoy your season of wassailing among the leaves so green!!

great strip you have here. i have a wacom, but i haven’t really done much with it yet. i admit that i don’t feel like changing my drawing for it yet. guess i’m being lazy, lol.

    • jynksie

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated! I got the tablet -out of laziness- actually!! The scanning was a chore and in another room on another level of the house! o.O *grin*

      • Nef

Mine too! My scanner was upstairs and I just stopped using it. After a period of awkwardness, my art (if I may call it that) has improved.

        Happy new year!

        • jynksie

Happy New Year Nef!! It’s amazing what laziness will make us do, no?!? LMAO

  6. naturenugget

Hodge better be careful. He may be left holding his yule log, lest it get burnt by the fire of Mel’s retort! LOL! I’ll bet you’ve been waiting all year to use that line, Scott!

    • jynksie

HAH! It was either the “yule log” line, or “haul out my holly”… but I couldn’t decide between them!! =) …but yes, I’ve been waiting all season to use my christmas euphemisms!!

  7. bearman

Bastard. I have been using my wacom (for laziness reasons too) for several years and your stuff looks better as usual.

Funny when I say “Pull out the Yule Log” it usually means I have to poop.

    Enjoy the break!!~

    • jynksie

o.O … TMI dude, just To-Much-Information!! In these parts, we call it a “nature break”! *grin*

  8. jeromatic

Happy Holidays, Jynksie! Enjoy your break. The comic is looking… well… SWEET. Wacom’s are awesome… I use it to color stuff in. I still love to put ink on a page… it could definitely save on the cost of ink and paper!

    • jynksie

Thanks Jer!! I will enjoy the break, maybe-hopefully build one of those “buffah” things I’ve heard about!! =) Merry Christmas- Happy New Year!

  9. DadaHyena

Nothing like a little innuendo to spice up those old holiday cliches.

    Merry Christmas to you, too!

    • jynksie

Well, something useful has to be done with all these holiday objects! Yule logs, jingle balls and the ole biggie, the fruitcake! o.O

  10. MidwestMom

    Happy Holidays :-)

    • jynksie

Thanks for being so supportive of HSII!! It’s truly appreciated!

  11. Nate Fakes

Hope you had a great Christmas and don’t pull that Yule log out for New Year’s!

    • jynksie

For New Years, he’ll be at home with Mel watching Ryan Seacrest drop his swarovski crystal balls at midnight! o.O
