Like most men, I’m just looking forward to that day in the not to distant future when I will no longer hear a sentence begin with “Well, Oprah said… blah-blah-blah!!!” … to which I would have to respond, as I always do “If Oprah leads you all off a cliff, will you PROMISE to follow?!?”

I’ve honestly never seen the appeal of Oprah. I mean, she’s just another talk show host, so what? I wonder how much of her popularity/influence is built mostly on hype instead of substance?
I think she was anointed the pied piper from her legions of female followers! As guys, we’ll probably never understand why her influence has been so grand?! From the male perspective, its certainly hype, from the female perspective, its almost a false worship syndrome to some extent! (although I should state for my own -safety- that me wife has never been a follower of Oprahs!)

I used to watch Oprah a lot. Then I got satelite and buh bye. Her appeal is simple, she relates to women by telling how they should act, look, and weigh. And finally, another beautifuly drawn comic.
Thanks for the compliment Jim!! I’m personally not liking panel 2, but w/ the holiday, I rushed it a little! …and yes, once all these Oprah followers are Oprah-less, what-will-THEY-do? what will they wear? what will they read? what will be their favorite things? o.O
I just don’t understand Oprah. To get where she is she has to be smart, right? But everything about her is completely devoid of content. And from what I can tell, she knows nothing about any of the topics she speaks about, and is basically just says whatever her advisers bring to her….
…maybe this her appeal is hidden in here somehow.
People seeking purpose through the ideals of others, makes others vewy-vewy rich! o.O Sometimes the purpose is stronger than the content provided.
I think her appeal is that she’s the only billionaire you get to see regularly on TV. Heck if Bill Gates had a TV show I’d watch.
Donald Trump had his own show and it only lasted a season before being buried in obscurity! I dunno if it’s just a phat wallet that entices people, but it could be?!

Hmm, okay then…. Martha Stewart! She has her own show(s) and none of them are exactly break out hits! …although at this point, I’m not sure she’s in the billionaire club anymore.
I’ve not watched Oprah since the episode where she was attacked by a giant wombat carried around by oompah loompahs. Wait, that might have been a dream.

Oprah isn’t going away. She is expanding the empire from 1 hour a day to 24 hours a day with her own network.

I never understood what the big deal about Ophrah was… Good for her and all, but I really don’t get it.
Thats the great thing about being a guy Nef, we don’t HAVE to get it! We just have to, as it seems, ENDURE it! =)
