I’m always saying “I enjoy a good cuban now and then”, though people know I actually mean the cigar… or at least I -think- they do?!? (LOL) I have to say, I’ve tried a few Dominican brands and while they aren’t cubans, they are acceptably good and readily available, but I’m one to want the things I cannot have it seems.
Call me selfish, but Isn’t it time we lifted the embargo on Cuba so I can indulge whenever the mood strikes me? I mean yeah, there’s that whole repressive regime thing going on and all, but if we can buy our oil from the Saudi’s, why can’t I have my cigars?!?

My Mother-In-Law took a trip to Cuba a few years ago… she said several regular folks commented to her about lifting the embargo. She said they were very nice and hospitable.
How did she find her way to Cuba? We (USA) can't go to Cuba?!? Can we?!? Did I miss a memo??? I mean, I know you can sneak in via flying from outside the country and the Cuban inspectors don't stamp your passport as to alert U.S. custom agents (most of the time) upon return home… the fines alone make it not worth the effort and I'd have little place to hide any Cubans I brought back with me!!

You're right, Jynks… we can't really go to Cuba, except through foreign countries… I do remember seeing the terminal for Cuban Airlines when we were coming back from Mexico a few years back.
She's a freelance fund raiser for non-profits… her organization arranged a special trip to Cuba for a bunch of her compadres in the field… they got permission from the US government, I believe. She didn't bring back any cigars, but she did bring back some liquor, and a nifty cinema magazine she picked up at a Cuban flea market.

I've never had a Peruvian myself, but I've been told most South Americans are sub par. Domicians, Hondurans, Nicaraguans and Costa Ricans would be far superior if you have a hankering!

I've been to Little Havana many times in Miami, thats as close as I've been able to get. However, I love the cuban culture down there, I love the food and I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE the music!
I work for Customs, so I cannot tell you how to do it, but these two things are correct:
1) People do it
2) They are not supposed to
I will not disclose my personal thoughts about the embargo, since I am in no position to affect policy, but only enforce it.
Now I know when you come back from a trip, you are allowed “x” ounces (or is it bottles of?) of alcohol to be brought through customs (assuming they check). What would be the official rule/guideline on cuban cigars being brought back, from say, Aruba?
